Conductor Seiji Ozawa joins forces with the Berlin Philharmonic for a special evening celebrating the works of George Gershwin (1898-1937). Performing three of the composer's most significant pieces, the orchestra is accompanied by pianist Marcus Roberts, who gained much praise for in the jazz community for his album GERSHWIN FOR LOVERS.

The incredible life of Argentinean tango composer Astor Piazzolla is explicitly detailed in this absorbing DVD. Piazzolla enlivened the genre by combining his use of a little-known instrument called the bandoneon with an ear for esoteric sounds, leading to him radically altering the traditional template on which tango is based. The footage included here is culled from various archive sources, and spans 30 years of vintage performance from Piazzolla. Illustrating his diverse appeal to a number of musicians from varying backgrounds, artists such as the Kronos Quartet, Yo-Yo Ma, and Gary Burton pay tribute to Piazzolla throughout.

In late 2006 the New Morning presented an incredible meeting of legendary blues players specially flown in from Nashville & Tokyo to live it up in Paris. As the climax of the club's 25th Anniversary Festival - and a birthday gift from the musicians - this Franco-American guitar summit brought together for the first time the members of Autour du Blues (the cream of France's top studio musicians) and two of America's most brilliant guitar heroes Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. The show was a smash success with the people of Paris. After leading one of San Francisco's first underground rock bands of the psychedelic era, the Charlatans, Dan Hicks formed his own group, Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks, whose lively fusion of folk, blues, jazz, and swing was ahead of its time in the late '60s and early '70s and earned him an enthusiastic cult following, if not mainstream success. A man who has always joyously created his own music in his own way, Hicks celebrated his 60th birthday in 2001 with a special concert at San Francisco's Warfield Theater, in which he was joined by the surviving members of the Charlatans, as well as a gaggle of former Hot Licks members and longtime musical friends alongside his current group. Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks preserves this concert for posterity and includes the songs "I Scare Myself," "Milk Shakin' Mama," "News From Up the Street," "Payday Blues," "How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away?" and many more.

Jazz Icons: Dave Brubeck boasts two beautifully filmed concerts from one of the most beloved quartets in jazz history. Captured at the pinnacle of their power and popularity, Paul Desmond (alto sax), Joe Morello (drums), Eugene Wright (bass) and Dave Brubeck (piano) explore the trails they blazed into the realm of odd time signatures with "Forty Days" and two versions of their groundbreaking hit "Take Five", as well as forays into world music with two unique interpretations of "Koto Song". Filmed while Dexter was living in Europe, these shows feature legendary side musicians such as Art Taylor (drums) and Kenny Drew (piano) and jazz classics "Blues Walk", "A Night In Tunisia", "Body And Soul" and others. One of the most influential saxophonists in jazz history (both John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins claim him as an influence), Dexter Gordon is captured in sharp form and style on this 70-minute tour de force.
